TETRA talkgroups, priorities and emergency calls: planning site communications

The group plan determines who receives the work message and where the employee responds. In TETRA, it is prepared along with priority and emergency call rules. Consider a practical scheme for an object where handheld and vehicle-mounted terminals must maintain a clear communication order.

Groups describe people’s work

Start with the units and the interactions between them. The transport service may have its own group, the service has another, and the shift manager has the need to receive messages from both. It is worth adding a group when it has clear participants, appointment and responsible.

For the selected group, the right of transfer and the necessary services are set. The names on the screens should be clear to employees, especially when replacing the device. Individual calls solve a separate problem of conversation with a particular subscriber; they can not be considered a mandatory replacement for working group exchange.

Scanning does not mean multiple simultaneous conversations

The terminal can monitor additional groups over a configured scan list. This helps the employee get the right calls, but does not mean listening to all the conversations of the subject at the same time. Incoming call behavior and response direction depend on configuration.

For example, the head of the service shift listens to his group and the agreed transport. The test checks what happens when you call each of them and where the PTT response goes. Such a scenario is more useful than a large list of groups that the staff does not have time to master.

What to distinguish in settings

Element of a schematicPractical question
Selected groupWho the employee’s usual response is intended for and how he sees the current choice
Scanned groupsWhat additional challenges are needed and how to respond to them
Priority and displacementWho is allowed, at what load are valid and how are confirmed by the network
Emergency addresseeWho gets the alarm and what scenario triggers the terminal button

High priority is given to the agreed parameters of the system, not the volume of the voice. A crowding call can interrupt a less priority call if the network is set up and maintained accordingly. Radio resource and coverage remain limitations: immediate delivery cannot be promised under any conditions.

Emergency button: several different actions

Motorola differs in emergency voice call and emergency Alarm. The recipient and the group may be appointed separately from the current working group. The documentation also contains scenarios using the selected group; the desired behavior is set when the fleet is configured.

Hot Mic allows you to transfer voice without holding PTT in the period provided by the settings. It is not necessary to constantly open the microphone at any terminal. For coordinates, you need an available function, location conditions and support for receiving control room data. Check the entire path of an event, not a single button.

Controller and operating regulations

The capabilities of the dispatching application and the recording of negotiations are agreed separately. Having TETRA terminals does not, by itself, create a record of all calls or a map of each subscriber. In advance, determine the person responsible for the composition of the groups, changes in credentials and handling alarms.

The TMO and DMO have clear rules. In network mode, services depend on infrastructure; in direct mode, terminals communicate according to agreed parameters with each other. Staff need to know when to switch to the DMO and who they can call. Such a transition does not allow automatic access to the remote controller.

How to check the plan before issuing a fleet

The trial includes a routine group call, a response to the scanned group, an individual communication, and a coordinated emergency scenario. For each, the recipient, indication and actions of the employee are noted. Anxiety is experienced with a warned control room, then check the correct completion of the mode.

Keep the accepted group plan and instructions for employees, but take into account the individual data of each device. The MTP6550 and MTM5200 below allow you to choose handheld and vehicle-mounted jobs for this scheme. Available services and specific configuration are confirmed with the operator of your network.

Obtaining equipment

Specify the city of receipt: Voronezh, Yaroslavl, Izhevsk, Kostanay or another point of Russia and Kazakhstan. Delivery composition, available quantity, cost and terms are agreed for your order.

Questions before ordering

Does the scan allow you to hear all the groups at the same time?

Nope. It controls the agreed list; incoming call processing and response direction are determined by terminal and network settings.

Is the microphone always open after the emergency button?

Nope. Hot Mic is a separate customizable behavior with a specified transmission time. The receiver of the alarm and the voice script are agreed separately.

Does the dispatcher automatically receive the coordinates of each call?

To do this, you need an available function of determining the location, settings the transmission and support for the dispatcher application. The result is confirmed by admission.

Port shift: groups of berth, transport and maintenance

At the Ust-Luga terminal, the communication plan is conveniently described through roles rather than a list of surnames. The mooring team, transport and maintenance receive their work interactions; separately determine who coordinates them on the shift. A driver with a transportable terminal and an employee with a wearable apparatus may be involved in the same task, but their controls and operating procedures differ.

For the repair base in Murmansk, an exit team and the procedure for transferring equipment to the next shift are added. The table records the clear names of groups, the appointment of terminals, responsible and the required response of the dispatcher to a separate call. Functions and priorities are coordinated with the existing network and configuration of devices. A single geographic address does not determine which TETRA services are available in a particular facility.
