MTP6550 and MTM5200 in one TETRA network: roles for staff and vehicles
The crew needs a station in the car and a terminal that the employee takes to the facility. The MTP6550 and MTM5200 solve these problems in different ways. They can be scheduled for TETRA common groups after checking configuration, registration and services, while retaining a separate role for each workplace.

What to fix for a person, and what for a car
The MTP6550 is convenient where the employee moves on foot: goes to the equipment, bypasses the site or works outside the cabin. power supply from the battery and personal placement of the terminal determine the procedure for issuing and maintaining. the vehicle-mounted MTM5200 remains on the car with an external antenna, mounting and separate power supply.
Both devices can participate in common groups, but do not become one account. The machine and the person are identified separately so that the dispatcher understands the source of the call. For shift transport, it is further determined how the crew is designated and who is responsible for transferring the workplace to the next shift.
Comparison of work roles
| Terminal | What to Consider in Collaboration |
|---|---|
| MTP6550 | handheld workplace; model documentation indicates 350-470 MHz. Antenna, battery condition and terminal position refer to actual operating conditions |
| MTM5200 | vehicle-mounted workplace; our offer is 380-430 MHz. External antenna and power supply are checked on the machine |
| TMO general groups | Appropriate variants, separate registrations and agreed rights in one system are needed. |
| Direct DMO mode | Check separately with the agreed parameters of both terminals and operating distances |
Cross-banding does not establish compatibility of all services. Operating frequencies, settings and versions are checked for the proposed pair. The name TETRA describes the standard but does not replace the operator’s permission to register specific terminals or access specific groups.
Coverage is checked by conversation
Vehicle-mounted and handheld installations have different antennas and operating conditions. A vehicle may provide a good mounting position for an external antenna, while a handheld user may be inside a building or near a metal structure. Results from one terminal should therefore not be assumed to apply to the other without measurements.
When examining the route, check the communication with the dispatcher and the group members in both directions. Receiving a call to a handheld device does not prove that its transfer is as confident. The test log notes the location, mode, terminal used, and the actual result of the conversation.
For premises and remote areas, the decision is chosen after such a survey. This may affect the antenna track or infrastructure, not just the purchase of a more powerful machine. The MTM5200 with a 3W transmitter does not guarantee network coverage abroad.
Teams and staff member response
For the driver and the employee outside the car, the same clear names of the necessary groups are useful. Scanning lists and permitted actions may differ in role. Check where the usual PTT press and response goes after a call from an additional group.
Individual communication and emergency scenario are tested separately. If the controller needs to receive coordinates, available functions, configuration and the corresponding application are required. The location of the machine should not be considered an automatic confirmation of the location of the employee with the wearable device.
A machine does not automatically become a gateway.
The MTM5200 does not function as a built-in DMO/TMO gateway or DMO repeater. Therefore, an employee outside the TMO zone does not get a connection to the network simply because the vehicle-mounted station is nearby. A project with a separate gateway requires suitable equipment and its own verification.
In DMO, compatible terminals can communicate directly with agreed settings. It is an independent regime with its own limitations. Access to the control room through the infrastructure and direct conversation between two devices should not be described as the same action.
What to take before delivery to the crew
Confirm individual credentials, necessary calls, audio accessories and work routes. For the MTP6550, battery and portability are checked, for the MTM5200, installation and permissible power supply are checked. The accepted scheme is preserved along with the distribution of devices.
Below are both models: select the number of handheld and vehicle-mounted seats by work roles. Set and availability are agreed separately, and common groups and services are agreed with the operator of your network.
Obtaining equipment
Specify the city of receipt: Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk or another point of Russia and Kazakhstan. Delivery composition, available quantity, cost and terms are agreed for your order.
Questions before ordering
Can MTP6550 and MTM5200 work in a group?
Yes, with suitable variants, individual registration, permissions and settings within the agreed network. Test the required calls on the specific terminals.
Does the MTM5200 transmit a handheld terminal conversation to the network as a gateway?
Nope. The MTM5200 does not have a built-in DMO/TMO gateway or DMO repeater role. A separate solution is needed for such a scheme.
If the car hears the dispatcher, will the employee nearby hear it?
It's checked separately. The antennas, position of the apparatus, and surrounding obstacles are different; both jobs need challenges in two directions.
